I Got Mugged!
For the first time in my life, I got mugged. Yeah, guess there is a first time for everything. Even though I try to be wary of people when I commute at night, little did I expect that I would be victimized during daytime just after lunch.
And the place it happened is the place that so many people have already been victimized. I rode a 04L jeepney right across SM where BDO is located. Okay, I did not know about this before but I found out about it after my wife’s friend told us about it that so many of her agent friends had fallen victim. They ask money and if you refuse, you get mugged.
Man, it just sucks.
The only consolation is that they only took my wedding ring. If they had gotten greedy, they also would have taken my watch and mobile phone. Yes, they. Two of them to be exact and they looked like drug addicts.
So they took an interest first in the watch. Then the ring. Then the other guy across me mentioned about my cellphone. Oh man, I was getting nervous. They kept mumbling about asking for money and I said I got none. Regardless if I gave them any, they still would have mugged me anyway.
The guy beside me grabbed my hand and took my ring. I felt empty after that. That was my freaking wedding ring. I knew my wife would be sad and maybe disappointed. In terms of face value, the watch cost the most and I could not give it because it is not mine in the first place.
While they probably did not take interest in the phone because a locked phone is unusable to non-tech savvy people, I was glad they did not get greedy on it because my phone is not locked plus imagine the personal data that they could get hold of. That would be disastrous.
Which left me with the ring. It still cost much but the sentimental value can never be replaced. It was our wedding ring.
Sigh, things like these, when it happens to you, it will never be the same. I still feel bothered over what happened. But I know I have to move on and I thank God that no knife or gun was poked at me or else it could have been worse.
