BDO Stole My Credit Card Points

Just got off the phone talking with a BDO customer service agent and boy am I pissed! We all know Equitable Bank was bought my BDO. It was also perfect timing that just last year, around August my credit card expired. I called up the Equitable number a few months before August and inquired what would happen to my credit card since they were bought by BDO. The girl on the phone told me that I should automatically be getting a new credit card under the BDO name.

Great … September 2008 came and still no card. I called up their BDO toll free hotline number around 3 times between September and December 2008. The first time I called the agent told me it was ready for sending. The second time I called, I told them I have not received the card. She said she will check it out. The third time I called was on December 2008 and I was still given the same reason.

I finally gave up on calling them and just waited for the card. The manager in Cebu Ramos branch even called them up (middle of 2009) to follow it up and he was told that it is on its way. Until now, nada. I did receive the BDO Rewards card. Don’t tell me that was what the Manila staff meant when the manager was told my card was on its way. Since I had grown tired from waiting, I decided to call their toll free hotline number to have it cancelled for good and redeem my points. It was then that I was told all my points had expired.

Say what?! 3 Months after the card expires, the points were lost. Wow! I raised my voice for the first time because I got really pissed. Imagine, all those years earning points and paying their freaking annual fee for nothing?! Lost because of a BDO employee mistake and there is nothing I could do about it? WOW! Just plain … W-O-W!

I could not call the Equitable number since it already is disconnected and the BDO agent told me there is nothing I can do. It is the company’s discretion. Discretion what?!? If they should inform their clients or not? What the … WHAT?!? If I knew about it I would have just cancelled it right away since BDO credit card sucks. You earn a point for every 50 pesos used. Metrobank is way better. It is 20 pesos per point. Plus the total points that I earned with BDO for many years, I earned more with Metrobank in less than a year.

They stink. They suck. And they stole my credit card points. They bought Equitable purely for business. They never cared for the clients except the rich ones which I am sure they have notified them with all specific details what they needed to do for the transition. Farewell points because of some stupid and disorganized employees in BDO. I stopped talking to the agent then because I know there was nothing that she could do. Still, it is weird. If my credit card was cancelled since last year, how come I still received some bills this year.

There is one thing I agree though, their subtitle. BDO … We find ways … “to make you miserable”.
