Immortal (2011)
This movie has its good and bad moments. The story revolves around Theseus, a mortal man chosen by Zeus to lead the fight against the ruthless King Hyperion, who is on a rampage across Greece to obtain a weapon that can destroy humanity.
Yes, that weapon that Theseus only used once, Hyperion only used once. I thought Theseus would be using it nonstop once he got hold of it. Then you see it being buried back inside the rock when the Gods were fighting the Titans.
Oh yes, the Titans. I thought they would portray them as giant lumbering beasts and the Gods would then show off their powers. All I saw were boring hand to hand combat fights against the miniature Titans. I say miniature because they are somehow the same size as them.
The only power that the Gods really showed in the movie was just zoom down to Earth at ridiculous speeds and back up. But is that even considered their power?
When Theseus used the bow, it was reminiscent of the Dungeons & Dragons cartoon tv series where the wielder had unlimited energy arrows at his disposal. I thought Theseus would use it and clobber the enemy during the war but heck, it really sucked that Hyperion got it.
The movie is good. But not really very good to me. There were frustrating parts that I did not expect to happen.
One more thing, Hyperions voice sounded familiar so I looked up its IMDB page to find out it is portrayed by Mickey Rourke. His voice acting is really terrible, like he barely ate anything for lunch or dinner.
I also thought Zeus was portrayed by Orlando Bloom but I was wrong. Luke Evans got me fooled.
