Corruption At Philippines Customs
You have heard them before. Corrupt customs staff hoarding things brought by travelers. While it was just talk and news before, I had finally witnessed myself from my trip to Malaysia. When we arrived from Malaysia at Clark International Airport in Subic, Philippines, I saw one customs staff place a huge grin on his face after seeing a Chinese tourist’s shoulder bag yield quite a few number of candy packs. Man … I was like … what the … this guy ought to be fired. While I do not know nor understand why travelers get charged or something by bringing stuffs from other countries, this guy brought with him a few packs. The customs staff happily called his supervisor (I guess since he was wearing a different uniform) and with the two of them showing broad grins like that of Batman’s arch enemy, The Joker, the Chinese tourist gave one pack to them so they won’t check his other stuffs anymore.
Man, I witnessed corruption with my own eyes and it was pretty embarrassing. Poor Chinese guy. While it is already expensive going out of the country for simple vacations (travel tax, terminal fee), you get robbed once you land on Philippine soil because of people like them.

I hope corruptions in the philippines will be lessen and not to be worst. I wonder when?

LETS OPEN OUR EYES WITH WHAT WE SEE AND CLOSE OUR WALLETS WITH WHATEVER THEY OFFER.. its not theirs to give and GOD knows what you’re feeding your family!
CUSTOMS has been and will always be corrupt. Their greedy HEADS and MANAGEMENT leads to money sucking employees which is a disgrace to our country!!!!
Nothing we can do to change this because even our government officials feed on this corruption operation..
leave the country if u can or imprison everyone in MALACANANG!

if he’s against it he should get arroyo to declare all her family assets before totally getting out of malacanang as his first move.
I wont be surprise if she and her family owns half the philippines already.
CUSTOMS vs The PEOPLE
its been long an issue for everyone to know and not even a single case file against its officials or employees.
The question is who’s behind and protecting it and who’s bank is benefiting from it? I remember the cellphone madness were people buying phones from custom employees who’s been confiscating it from poor worker or company as mode of payment “TONG”.
And now the issues of BALIKBAYAN BOXES being held at customs for months and months because they’re not paying enough money..
Its should be half the tax at he first place anyway, because people that are sending those boxes are people who work abroad to raise money and send home to philippines which is helping our economy big time.
So why not cut the crap, either Aquino do something about it or lets all chip in to pay the TONG for custom officials..
