Meet Dave

I watched Meet Dave last night with my wife. Before the movie started, I was kind of apprehensive at first because lately, Eddie Murphy’s live action movies were for me, overacting. His portrayal on cartoon characters is better like Jim Carrey. However, comes the live action scenes, I feel that he’s overdoing his stuff to make people laugh. How he handled his character in Mulan and Shrek were superb. In this movie, even though he was still overdoing it, it was ok for me since his character is that of a robot being piloted by a micro version of him. The movie does have its fair share of laughs and comedic scenes. Since the aliens’ ship is of robotic human form, how the human-formed Eddie Murphy moves and talks (which is controlled within) is hilarious. The story is about a crew of miniature aliens that operate a spaceship that has a human form who goes to Earth for the sole purpose of saving their planet. To do that, they had to search for a small rock that landed earlier on Earth and was found by a boy. As they continued to mingle with the boy and his mom (who happened to crash into their robot human ship with her car), they become smitten about humans. It’s a good movie for the kids too and one of the decent comedy movies of this year in my opinion.
