Thor: Tales Of Asgard (2011)
Thor: Tales of Asgard is a 2011 direct-to-video animated film based on the Marvel Comics character, Thor. The story tells the famous Marvel character when he was still young, before he ever lifted his mighty hammer Mjolnir.
A different kind of movie where even Thor in his younger days has not been introduced to Mjolnir but instead depends on a sword to fulfill his quest going through the Frost Giants’ land in search of the legendary Lost Sword of Surtur.
There are lessons to be learned here as young Thor desperately wanted to prove his father Odin that he is a man ready for the future but instead finds his actions bring about almost the destruction of Asgard. Thor must then prove himself worthy of the destiny he covets by saving Asgard itself.
Again, a very good movie. This is the first time I have seen the might of the Frost Giants in action and boy, was Odin right not to pursue a war he thinks cannot be won. I would have preferred seeing a grown up Thor rather than a teenage teeny bopper but, well … better this one than none at all.
