Treasure Quest 5: Part 1
Chapter 1
The Calm Before the Storm
Ah, the cool smell of the early morning breeze… The 6th of June surely promises to be one hell of a day. As early as 8 am people were already queuing up to register for Treasure Quest 5—the ultimate adventure on wheels sponsored by Sun Zu. The participants were all smiles, exchanging pleasantries and small-talk with each other. At the same time they were sizing each other up:
This team looks rather fit. Gotta watch out for them;
This one’s made up of girls; one’s a looker—not bad;
This team looks like they just got out of prison;
Ah, here’s a sponsor team. Bet they know already about the pit stops;
This team looks kuya-ig! They talk too loud! Who do they think they are?! What kind of a team name is ‘Pagdadalaga ng Gotokids’. I’ll bust their skulls open after the race;
The pre-race heat was coming to a boiling point. And it was all because of those Gotokids.
Chapter 2
Goto Speed Racer! Goto!
The race is on!
Stop 1: The Mall
The task here was to disarm a security camera from an electronics store and steal a kiss from the security guard. The kids’ strategy was for Water King and Single Dad to crack the code. On the other hand, Leonito Goto, Cornholio and Snow White were to create a diversion outside the store. Cornholio proceeded to gargle some toothpaste in his mouth and spitted out the bubbles. They made it seem like Cornholio was suffering from epilepsy. Leonito wailed his lungs out in shock and Snow White approached the on-coming TQ5 participants pretending to ask for help.
The Fool was supposed to be in on the whole act but he got lost and did his diversion in another floor. He was summarily taken into custody by in-house security personnel and thrown out of the premises. There, in the parking lot, he met Poohjit who was still making his way inside the mall. With his lumbering size, it takes a while for Poohjit to move. Spitfire Chucky was doing his diversions on the salesgirl of the store—who happened to be a fling of his from 2 summers past. It was not part of the initial plan.
It took less than 5 minutes for the kids to finish. Poohjit was still making his way up the escalator when the rest of his team mates were already at the parking lot.
Stop 2: The Doomed Liner
After a successful first stop, their next task was to find a certain sea vessel and install lifeboats and life vests on it. Suffice to say that the Gotokids were not able to do a very good job of securing the knots on the lifeboats. They aren’t seamen after all. A week later the ship sailed into a storm—only to realize that each of the lifeboats have been blown away by the wind. But by no means was it the fault of the Gotokids! Not at all…
Stop 3: Somewhere in the Middle of Recla
Unbeknownst to the rest of his team mates, Leonito Goto had actually managed to smuggle into his GotoCar some contraband from the sea vessel of stop 2. Yes, he was able to harbor some whiskey and gin. So as they were headed for stop 3 they had actually already consumed all the liquor. Hence, the events for that leg of the race will remain a blur to them even to this day.
All they can remember was that:
a) Cornholio found some TP for his bunghole at the stop;
b) Single Dad and Spitfire Chucky had hickeys all over their bodies;
c) Snow White’s face was muddied;
d) Poohjit was passed out on a gutter;
e) Leonito Goto’s testicles hurt;
f) The Water King suffered a leak in one of his tanks.
They also remembered that they left the Fool inside the ship. They had to go back and get him. This somewhat lost them a bit of time. But they were way ahead anyway, so it was not such a big loss. And the Fool managed to harass some of the other participants as they made their way into the ship. Not bad at all!
