Who is Federico Pignatelli? He is the CEO of California based dental laser company Biolase who is keeping his annual salary of just a dollar, as he seeks to rebuild the fortunes of the company after a turbulent year (ain’t most companies doing the same thing?).

Considering that the company has just posted revenues of $26.2 million for its full fiscal year and ended December 31 representing a dramatic slide from the figure of $43.3 million registered in 2009, he believes that the major strategic changes that he has instigated over the past six months will ultimately benefit the company’s shareholders where he owns the largest shares.

There are many other CEOs from well known tech companies who have salaries of a dollar like Federico does and according to him he will continue to work for an annual salary of one dollar, and the only way that he will make money is if the shareholders make money.

To be profitable is what every CEO aims to do for his company and he intends to do just that.
