GI Joe Renegades (2010)
This new GI Joe cartoon series tells the story of a group of young G.I.s who are forced to become fugitives after a spy mission goes horribly wrong that involves the explosion of Cobra Industries’ Cobra Pharmaceuticals. Now branded as renegades by the media for crimes they didn’t commit, they are forced to fight. Pursued by the authorities, Cobra mercenaries, and the Falcons, they must use all their skills to prove their innocence and to expose the true face of Cobra Industries and its mysterious leader Adam DeCobray.
This series sounds more like The A Team than the classic GI Joe. And what is up with the character art? They look like Beavis and Butthead (although the evil duo are drawn worse). Plus Roadblock looks like an oversized leprechaun and Order, the dog looks like a mutated monster than a normal dog.
The artists clearly are trying hard to make this group unique compared to the original. Why bother? They could have just created a TV series not named after GI Joe and started a new one instead. The only thing that keeps this cartoon series interesting is GI Joe brand and the original characters’ names.
Bad drawings, bad colorings, bad art. Although I will still watch this in my spare time (not ASAP unlike my other favorite series).
