What Do You Think Of The Last Airbender Movie? (2010)
I finally got to watch The Last Airbender last night after dvdrip versions of it came out. So finally, here is my take on what I think about the movie since there were so many negative reactions when it was shown in theaters. Overall, the movie is not bad. There were only two problems that made this a not so good movie:
This movie should have been made into 2 parts. I would say every book movie should be at least 2 parts. If you have not seen the tv-series then you would not understand but for someone who has seen it ever since it first aired on Nickelodeon’s channel, you would share my sentiment. There were so many things shown in the movie that did not have much character development and most of the scenes were kind of quick and in some ways makes me say … how did they reach this point? It was the same kind of feeling when I tried to read the next book of Lord of the Rings and I could not visualize what the author was trying to show.
Weren’t you surprised that Sokka and the moon goddess suddenly had the hots for each other … after just one glance?!?!?! There were no character developments between them. That totally sucked! Although I have to admit the moon goddess is beautiful … and hot. Plus Shyamalan should have shown in the last part when night was over that the water tribe lost their powers and it was the fire nation’s turn to have the upper hand. After that would have been the time when Aang merged with the spirit and drove the fire nation ships away which … did not happen here. Sucks!
Aang, Katara and Sooka’s characters were alright. If people expected a fluid motion action fight from them, give them a break. Aang’s just a kid. You think Will Smith’s kid, Jaden Smith could do any better? (Let’s place some chin chan choo on him and he would look just like Aang 
).
The other attribute that made this a not so good movie was the character castings. No offense but the actors of the fire nation were just terrible. Zuko was alright but the major and Zuko’s father were totally bad. People who did not like the movie probably expected too much. I did too although I understand it is not easy clamping a whole season’s story into just 1 movie. There were so many important things left out that could have helped audience understand but apart from those two flaws I mentioned, the movie is okay to me.
Oh yeah … the bending actions should have been made simpler too. The fire bending looked like fire dancing to me. Aang’s air bending was totally cool though. I actually managed to do some air bending myself … cover your noses … PROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT ha ha!
