Do You See The A-Team Movie As A Remake?

Definitely not a remake, as director Joe Carnahan (“Smokin’ Aces”) keeps insisting, “The A-Team” movie is the story of four wrongly convicted U.S. Special Forces Rangers taking it to the bad guys. There’s Col. Hannibal Smith (Liam Neeson), the leader and chief strategist; Templeton “Face” Peck (Bradley Cooper), a good-looking charmer with an eye for the ladies; HM “Howlin’ Mad” Murdock (Sharlto Copley), a pilot who is also certifiably insane; and BA Baracus (Quinton “Rampage” Jackson), a pillar of strength, an African-American with a mohawk and a mortal fear of flying.

So what do you think? Even if I have not seen the movie yet, I see remake written all over it. Even if the director insists it is not, why bother using the same title. I do not think this will be a super hit like the tv series was. Take a look at GI Joe. This is what happens when movie remakes involve normal people. They tried to make GI Joe as different from the cartoon series as possible. They would had been better off using a different movie title instead. Then maybe it would not have been a flop in my point of view.

The same goes for the A-Team. These are just ordinary people, not super-powered beings. Their character history is the same. It is just the story and action adventure that is different. Oh well, will see if the movie will be as good as the classic tv series.
