Legend Of The Seeker Loophole

Ever since the Keeper was introduced in season 2 of the Legend of the Seeker, I cannot help but really wonder what purpose the Seeker has in finding the Stone of Tears in order to close the rift and seal the Keeper in the underworld for good.
Really … what is the point? When humans die, they all go to the underworld whether they are good or bad. So why bother trying to seal the rift. Even if the heroes do manage to seal the rift, when they grow old and die, they would still go to the underworld where the Keeper can torture them there for all eternity.
Or is the reason for sealing the underworld rift just so they can enjoy life while they are still alive? This is a question that I really want answered as I see this as a loophole in the tv series storyline. What do you think?
