Oh No! Fire!

Have you ever experienced seeing your neighbor’s house on fire and getting scared out of your wits thinking that it might hit your house next? This morning was indeed one close call. I was knocked out from having slept late last night because of this ongoing and annoying dry cough. This early morning, I woke up a bit and heard loud voices from neighbors but I thought they were just fighting or something
When my wife’s brother knocked on the door, the moment he said the word FIRE, my eyes opened wide and my drowsiness was gone. My wife and I instantly packed all our things, first the most important ones (laptop, camera, documents, etc) to the less important. We were lucky that we decided not to sell some of our bags because they proved useful to what just happened this morning.
After that, we just waited outside to see the outcome of the fire being watered down by firemen. Whew! That was one close call. The house I am staying in is just a line of houses away from getting hit. It was a good thing too that there was no wind that time or else it could have made things worse.
Just seeing those dark black colors in the smoke is pretty scary. Dunno where we would stay if the house got hit. And good thing it happened in the morning. If that happened late at night, the damage could have been big.
