Dragonball Evolution
This new Dragonball movie is not related to the anime series except with the fact that they use the same names in some of the characters. The story begins with Goku, who seeks out upon his adoptive grandfather Grandpa Gohan’s dying request to find the great Master Roshi and gather all seven Dragon Balls. Goku has one dragonball in hand and he needs to find the rest in order to prevent the evil Lord Piccolo from succeeding in his desire to use the Dragon Balls to take over the world. After all, once anyone has them, a wish can be granted.
The effects are good but I was disappointed with their fight scenes. Not much fighting except trying to blast each other. And Master Roshi (Chow Yun Fat) should have died when he fell on the mountain and got pounded by rocks. Well he did die later on but my point was that he should have died earlier. It seemed pretty stupid too that the dragonballs were scattered around since Piccolo still got them all in the end (but got thwarted by Goku in the end). Kids will love this movie as they do not care much about stories and all. They just care about what they see unlike grownups and Dragonball Z fanatics who looked forward to watching this movie will be disappointed to find out it does not really relate that much to the anime series.
