Microsoft Unveils Windows Phone 7 Series

Seems Microsoft is making a comeback in the mobile industry. I just need the news in CNN and it mentions about a new operating system running Windows 7 for mobile phones. This move is a clear sign they are trying to get back into the mobile industry.
This may not look easy. Apple’s iPhone has already come out strong plus we have the ever consistent Blackberry. Even Google’s Android can be considered a serious rival in time. These mobile phones will have a new feature: tile based user interface and will include live access to Facebook, plus its own offerings X-Box Live for gaming and Zune for music and photos. Its search engine Bing is also included.
The phones will be available on multiple networks, including T-Mobile, Sprint, and Verizon, as well as international carriers such as Telefonica, Vodafone, SFR, Telestra and Telecom. Carriers will be able to enable their own innovations, software and services to work with the Windows operating system.
Unlike Google’s Android, which is open source and available to manufactures for free, Microsoft requires handset makers to purchase licenses just like Apple. That discouraged me to study Objective C and try making an iPhone application of my own.

Windows 7 Complaints Rolling In
Posted by tech on
December 12, 2009
So it was too good to be true but a lot of users have voiced their complaints mostly when they upgraded to Windows 7. Users who had a fresh clean install of the said operating system did not report that much problems. I know, I know. There is no perfect system. Still, people who want to upgrade from Vista may have to reformat their systems to have Windows 7 installed from scratch to avoid problems.
It was said that most of the problems that customers have with Windows 7 have to do with installation or application and data migration. Can’t blame people if they complain. After all, Windows is the most used operating system in the world so the number of complaints would surely be plentiful.
Would probably try Windows 7 after some months of noted stability. I am using Mac’s Snow Leopard so I barely used Windows unless I want to use it for .NET purposes. What about you? Has anyone installed Windows 7 in their system? Did you encounter any problems while using it? Share your problems by commenting in this post.

Posted by tech on
October 20, 2009
Come October 22, Microsoft will be launching its latest operating system dubbed Windows 7. It promises to be better than Vista. It should. After all, Vista sucks. I reverted back to Windows XP after finding out it consumes too much memory and the user interface is too complicated. It was totally the opposite of what Microsoft is to begin with : easy user interface.
With Windows 7, Microsoft is going back to basics. I think they won’t advertise too on the extravagant side this time. They did it with Vista and look what happened? That product was a bust. I am sure though that Windows 7 will have good features coming. Unless Microsoft wants Apple to catch up to them again, right?
Let us see what happens … I am eager to try out Windows 7 myself. If it is true that it runs faster … good. Because Apple’s Snow Leopard is really fast, compared to Leopard and if Windows 7 will still be slow, Apple may catch up pretty soon.
