Thanks to Diablo, RPG is one of my favorite types of games. Earth and Legend by DvideArts is a seemingly impressive game in the Android platform.

This game is a full scale 3D role playing game that not only comes packed with plenty of eye candy for players but also a slew of pretty unique features as well. One of these is the actual day and night feature wherein for every 24 minutes that the game is played, a full night and day cycle of 24 hours passes in the game world.

The game also has a highly advanced weather system. Depending on weather conditions, from time to time it will rain. In high altitude places it snows. A very strong rainfall will even produce thunder and lightning, which can be used by magicians. Some spells draw power directly from thunder and lightning, making the caster very powerful when it rains (Thor’s hammer. Oops. Spoiler).

Choose between 3 skill lines (Melee, Bow and Magic) although it really did not matter to me which one to focus on because I ended up using Bow and arrow on the big bosses whilst using Melee on grunts.

The game is really good but there are some features that disappointed me. The game only limits the character to have a level up to 30. Hence, if you invested the wrong powerups you would be disappointed to learn that you cannot gain that certain powerup that you like because you get stuck at level 30.

Also, if you die, you start with barely a life and mana. The character should have his life and mana at full capacity. Try to check this game out if you like it. I still have not defeated the last boss since our levels are pretty much in the same level so my character does not seem to have any advantage.

Emissary of War is a pretty god game for the Android platform. Although I would have wanted this game to be very big, I managed to finish the game fairly quick. The graphics are awfully good and the lead character looks lifelike and I think because of how short the game is, the developers purposely did not place a virtual joystick to let the characters move around freely.

You would have to tap first to select a character, then tap again to move the character to the location you want. The game also offers a different style of fighting. You play the character of Ghent, barbarian on a task to do some barbarian things and fight a bunch of bad guys along the way.

Your companion is the trusty Hassock, a nice, bald-headed alchemist who gives you support via potions and has a bit of an issue with balance (he trips often). When fighting enemies and you need healing potions, you can click on any of the potions you bought by tapping on them and they queue up in line to heal you.

Other potions can be deadly to enemies, hence it takes some good reflex to choose which potion you need for your character and which potions should be hurled towards the enemies.

The game labels this one as an RPG type of game. However, it would have been nice to have all abilities mastered. After all, that is what I really like about RPG even though it takes time to level up to a high level that your enemies cannot slay you even with a few slashes.

Emissary of War is a pretty good game overall. I just wish they made it longer.

Avatar HD for the Android platform is developed by Gameloft, well known around the Android universe as having the best set of games.

Avatar’s game does not follow the movie’s plot in every detail but you can see the same (though not complete) world of James Cameron’s Avatar and embark on a journey of redemption and discovery two decades prior to the events in the film.

Play as Captain Ryan Lorenz into the body of an experimental human-Na’vi hybrid, becoming the first avatar. I played this in easy mode and there were a few wherein I did not have an easy time. Although the combos for the avatar are repetitive, you get to upgrade your weaponry and armor as you accomplish mission by mission.

The game features around 15 levels, from the human-built mines and military strongholds to beautiful waterfalls and lush jungles that come alive at night with bioluminescent plants.

The controls can be a bit sketchy at times. The avatar character tends to move and evade backwards when it is moving so sometimes I got miffed when instead of jabbing forward to lunge at the enemy, my character tumbles backward.

Still, I enjoyed every press of my thumbs with this game. Absolutely one of the best games for Android. And it is not just the same arcade style shooting that you can do in this game. There are also game plays where you battle enemy ships in the skies of Pandora riding on a banshee in shoot ’em-up sequences.
