You’re Not You (2014) Movie Review

It has been quite some time since my last movie review. I had gotten lazy to writing about them until I saw the movie You’re Not You.

Starring Hilary Swank, this drama is centered on a classical pianist who has been diagnosed with ALS and the brash college student who becomes her caregiver.

ALS is a very serious disease. I did not know about it until I saw the hype in social media about the ice bucket challenge. Even reading as to what ALS really is, is not the same as knowing how the disease can affect people.

Watching this movie was really heartbreaking because it showed how Hilary’s character was burdened with ALS and how the pain grew worse as time passes.

Swank and Emmy Rossum, who became her caregiver were both outstanding in acting out this movie with their respective roles.

I would definitely give Hilary Swank the nod for best actress if I were to judge. She was simply outstanding and it gave me a glimpse just how hard it is to live when one has ALS.

Considering the fact that there is no cure, the pain of living through it until the end is what makes it hard.

I always am afraid of death and just thinking of a person who may have it, living through it until the days left to live, is just hard as well as the people close to the person who has ALS taking care of them.

This is a must see movie. I am not much of a drama movie fan, but this one is definitely a must see!
