Priest (2011)
I had heard news before I even got to watch this movie that it did not make it good in the box office. In other words, expectations were not met. After watching the movie, I would say I now understand why. This would have been a good movie but there was too much dialogue with the characters, so many riding on a bike scenes and not much action.
The action scenes were pretty good even though they were just short ones. If they had more of those, maybe everybody would have labeled this an awfully good movie.
Priest is set in a post apocalyptic alternate world, one ravaged by centuries of war between man and vampires. The story revolves around a legendary warrior named Priest from the last Vampire War who now lives in obscurity among the other downtrodden human inhabitants in walled-in dystopian cities ruled by the Church.
When his niece is abducted by a murderous pack of vampires, Priest breaks his sacred vows to venture out on a quest to find her before they turn her into one of them. He is joined on his crusade by his niece’s boyfriend, a trigger-fingered young wasteland sheriff, and a former Warrior Priestess who possesses otherworldly fighting skills (but whom viewers only get to see in action for a few seconds).
The main villain was hardly surprising and is atypical of movie plots. Overall, this is an okay movie for me. Good, but not that good. Share your thoughts if you have seen this movie and let me know what you think?
