Sinulog 2011

If it were not for the rain and if the President would have gone there earlier, it would have been more fun. Good thing it was not pouring rain all day. I wonder how the contingents were doing when it was raining hard during lunchtime. A success? Perhaps. But not totally.

The contingents were idling on the street for long durations because they were waiting for the program in Abellana to start. This long wait was because they had to wait for the President to arrive. It was time wasted because where was the fun in taking pictures of the contingents just idling?

Also, Sinulog personnel failed in one thing … again: that is, ensuring that only authorized people can get in the street area. I saw quite a lot of foreigners and locals in the street performing area taking pictures when they did not wear any i.d.s with them. What was the whole point for photographers buying an i.d. in the first place? Just to gain an entrance to the Abellana area only?

That ain’t a valid reason. If that is so, then they should just let all the people watching from the sidelines join in the street area with the contingents, right? I purposely bought an i.d. so I could get in and out easily. But I saw many people with no i.d.s there. I even saw one Sinulog guard (or whatever you call him) letting a foreigner pass and get in because he did not have the guts to call him out and discipline him to stay out.

Looking forward to the same thing happening next year .
