ID Requirements In Banks

There is one thing that disturbs me when it comes to identification requirements whenever you plan to open an account in any bank here in the Philippines. They always require 2 different I.D.s. I mean, what the … what for? Ain’t one enough? What is the need for a second ID? You are already in the bank premise. Your face is in front of them. It is a pretty stupid requirement.

If you only have one ID, does that mean you cannot open any account? But alas, stupidity rules so people have no choice but to find ways and get a second ID. It is pretty annoying and it irks me whenever they tell me that. Getting your social security ID is pretty tedious. You usually have to wait very long. One ID should already be enough.

This situation is even worse for a bank like BDO. The subtitle “We Find Ways …”. Wow. Where is the finding ways in that? You can only get an account with just one ID if you know the people who work in the bank. Other than that, they don’t really care.
