Underworld 3 : Rise Of The Lycans
Feb 15, 2009 I movies. This movie actually should have been the first movie as it shows how the Lycans came to be freed by a young Lycan named Lucian and became their leader. The movie was beautifully scripted as it synchronized its story to coincide with what would happen next on the first two Underworld movies. I just found it weird though … seems all Lycans in this movie were just plain werewolves while Lucian was the unique Lycan wherein he could transform back and forth into a Lycan. While other prisoners who got infected by a Lycan bite also became Lycans themselves, they turned back to human form. Those werewolves out in the wilderness though, were somewhat pure as they act like animals. Not even thinking straight.
The prequel story traces the origins of the centuries-old blood feud between the aristocratic vampires and their slaves, the Lycans. In the Dark Ages, a young Lycan named Lucian emerges as a powerful leader who rallies the werewolves to rise up against Viktor, the cruel vampire king who has enslaved them. Lucian is joined by his secret lover, Sonja (who is Viktor’s daughter), in his battle against the Vampire army and his struggle for Lycan freedom. If you had watched the first two movies, you would see scenes when Lucian was tortured and his love killed by sunlight. We find out in this movie why this was so. As Viktor found out about his daughter’s love affair with the Lycan. What is weirder is that the vampires seem to be just like normal humans. To think they are vampires, their sense of hearing should be great. And they fight with swords and other weapons.
Still, this was a good movie. You should watch if especially if you have already watched the first two Underworld movies.
Like what you see? Buy me a cup of coffee. I love cappuccinos.
