Dream Mismatch
Dec 09, 2008 I sports.Great. Pacquiao won. I did not watch it live since I am not into boxing no matter who is fighting. So I only got to watch it the next day after downloading a copy of it online. While watching it, I could only say to myself, this was not a dream match. This was a dream mismatch. The commentator kept saying dela Hoya could not land any punches on Pacquiao. I pretty much disagree. While literally it is true, technically it is not. The last fight I saw with dela Hoya against someone whom I forgot his name, dela Hoya was pretty strong and quick. In this fight, he was way too slow to move and react and his quickness had disappeared which clearly showed his age. He is not in his prime anymore unlike Pacquiao.
Clearly this match was for the money. dela Hoya consumed a huge percentage compared to Pacquiao, almost twice as much as Manny had got. Of course I support Manny since i am Filipino. dela Hoya still showed he was a good fighter. Good, but not great anymore and Manny clearly had the upperhand in ever facet of boxing. The way dela Hoya fought, I remembered Boom Boom Bautista who does not look like he is conditioned to fight. The way Boom2x moves is pretty weak unlike Pacquiao whose body is pretty solid (though this is another topic). Pacquiao clearly was the better fighter obviously. In the 8th round when he cornered dela Hoya on the side, I even thought that he laid low on purpose quite a number of times after he combo punched him knowing he was already pretty beaten up. Again, congratulations to Manny Pacquiao
Like what you see? Buy me a cup of coffee. I love cappuccinos.

Golden Boy was way past his prime, but he made a lot of money and left with only a minor beating so he can’t complain. Manny gave a legend a boxing lesson and sent him into retirement, it wasn’t a good fight, it was a total mismatch.
Hopefully the fight between Manny and Ricky Hatton will happen, because I feel that will be a fantastic battle between two warriors in their prime.
