Spiderwick Chroncicles
Jun 21, 2008 I movies. Now that the tv-series seasons are over, there’s nothing much for me to watch except try and catch up on previous movies that got shown which I hadn’t had the chance to watch in the moviehouse. Even cartoon series have nothing good to offer me. Avatar’s totally cancelled and I miss Justice League. One of the movies I watched now was Spiderwick Chronicles. I’ve always wanted to watch this ever since this came out. Pretty obvious this is a sorta fantasy adventure type of movie. Better than drama. The main character of the movie is one young boy who also has a twin brother. They start off merely annoying, shouting and quarreling. And the main character keeps on fighting with his elder sister too. The adventure starts when he found a book, compiled by Spiderwick himself, owner of the house. The movie has a unique set of villains and characters including goblins who are easily vaporized by tomato sauce and one mouse like creature who turns like a micro incredible hulk whenever he gets stressed and goes back to normal only when given anything that has honey or just plain honey. The book was found in the house where the boy’s family moved in and is magically encircled by a border that protects it from the goblins and its head honcho, a bigger monster that has the capability to shape shift into any animal, human or whatsoever. Since this is a sci-fi adventure movie, I figured there would be magic and stuffs because how can a boy defeat the big bad guy without any powers or weapons or such? Turned out, the boy just used his head. He threw the book down so the bad guy would shapeshift to a bird and where a pig-like creature that eats birds was actually lurking nearby. The pig-like creature grabbed the bird and ate it quick and that was the end of it. Overall the movie is not bad, geared for kids viewing. Kids would definitely love this movie, and teenage or yuppie people like me who love these kinds of movies.
Like what you see? Buy me a cup of coffee. I love cappuccinos.
