Ice Castle Ayala

Ice Castle used to be one of the famous halo-halo places in Cebu. Used to be, because last time I ate there (which was yesterday), I was disappointed because their halo-halo ain’t used to be the same as before. There’s no really differentiating Ice Castle from other establishments that serve halo-halo because they’re all the same. Ice cream scoops, ube, jackfruit, leche flan, nata de coco and those other common ingredients that make up the ever famous halo-halo. We are all aware that prices have gone sky high at a fast rate this year (and to think that this is my year, I thought I am going to be lucky. So far …. nada). It is understandable if a favorite gets its price increased but still retains the delicious savor that people have come to love. Ice Castle’s halo-halo has sort of degraded. The leche flan tasted like it was made by an amateur, a cook in learning. Their jackfruit was dry. There wasn’t much nata de coco in there. The only positive there was the two scoops of ice cream and I was glad I didn’t mix it with the rest of the ingredients and ate most of it right away like i was eating only ice cream. Their coconut didn’t taste fresh. It was like some old stock of halo-halo was served to us. End result, I didn’t get my money’s worth.
