We all know this place was originally near National Bookstore in Mango avenue. I’ve never eaten in that branch before. Well, it was the only branch that time unlike now where there are I think 2? One in Lahug and the other in SM’s Northwing. I’ve heard people say that it’s very expensive there so I always tried to veer away from it whenever I decide on a place to eat where that place is visible. Not until this evening. I was (and still am as of this writing) kind of sick to begin with, experiencing rain almost every day and during the summer, the cold finally caught on to me. Really weird weather right? When I fetched my fiancee, I told her I wanted to eat someplace where I can drink some soup. Since we’ve eaten in all the new restaurants that opened in the Northwing, leaving Chika-an as the only one left, we decided to have a go at it. The minute I walked in their restaurant, I felt like I was in a hot oven cooked to death. It was sooooo hot. I told my fiancee about it and she told me it’s probably because there were so many lights hanging on the ceiling. Ok, fine. So we ordered Clam Soup, Pinakpet, Buttered Squid, Tiyan na Inihaw (Grilled Stomach? hahaha j/k) and …. unlimited rice! Can’t say the rice was really worth it because I did not eat much nor forced myself to consume as much rice as I could, for 28 pesos. The price of the food were alright. Service is ok too. I can’t say the same for the environment though. It would have been nice if it was cold. The place feels like everyone’s sticking close to you because it’s so hot you feel like there’s not much space that divides your area from the rest.

After we were done eating, I still was bothered why the place was so hot. My fiancee still gave me the same answer, because of the lights. Then I decided to check on the airconditioner’s remote control. Whoa! 27?!?!? What the hell were they thinking??? I checked the other airconditioner if its temperature was higher. 27!!! What gives?!? I asked the waiter why it’s set to 27 and he said that it’s been automatically set to that temperature. Even if they upped it, it’s been pre-programmed to go back to 27. Man… I could not believe the owners are so stingy. You have four airconditioners and the place was still hot. I’m not buying the excuse that there were so many people around. True, there were indeed a lot of people who dined there, but even when they left, the place still felt like an oven. Pathetic. The food was alright but the temperature was awful. Try it.
