Insurance For Unoccupied Homes

So let us see, there are home insurance but there are also the kind of insurance where it applies to unoccupied homes. How about that? I never had an idea there is such a thing as insurance for unoccupied homes until I came across an article in the knowledge filled Internet.
Most home insurance policies will allow for your property to be unoccupied for up to 60 consecutive days without it affecting your policy. But more than that then it is a whole different story. It may make your claim invalid if an incident takes place during that time. And by unoccupied, I mean a property is not lived in by you or your family for more than 60 consecutive days or if it is occupied by squatters.
If your house gets robbed, your claim for loss or damage may become invalid if it is unoccupied. The same goes if the damage is caused by water, oil or by some nutcase who likes destroying homes. It is important that you keep your home insurance provider up to date with where you are or will be if you are going to leave your home unoccupied for some time.
My friend in the UK can greatly benefit from this kind of specialist home insurance.
