A sitemap is a list of pages of a web site accessible to crawlers or users. It can be either a document in any form used as a planning tool for web design, or a web page that lists the pages on a web site, typically organized in hierarchical fashion.
They say that if your blog is hosted in Blogger (or domains that have blogspot.com in them), its sitemap is automatically crawled for you. But for those who know the inner workings of sitemaps, they know that the default sitemap only contains the 26 most recent posts of your blog.
Not a good sign right? Typically, I would want all my posts to be indexed by Google. And there is a solution to this, but you would have to manually do it. This post assumes you know your way around to using Google Webmasters.
Go to this link: http://digitalinspiration.com/tools/blogger/sitemap/ to generate your sitemap. Just enter your blog URL and press the button to generate. You will get 3 results:
- URL of the sitemap to be added manually in your Google Webmasters account’s blog.
- link to automatically have your blog be crawled by Bing
- link to automatically have your blog be crawed by Yahoo!.
The last 2 only needs you to click on the link in order for your blog to be added to the crawler’s queue. If you feel that your blog has grown and the number of posts have multiplied, you can go to this “sitemap generator URL” again and generate a fresh batch of sitemap URLs.

Buy Me A Beer Coffee For Blogger

I have a buy me a beer / coffee plugin for wordpress but my blogger blogs do not have one so I thought about scouring the net to look for one. I came across some that required you to place a code and changing some values. I did not like it though because it would not let me save the blog’s template because of some format problem. I could not understand what the problem was so I tried to look for other alternatives. Luckily, I came across Buckdrop. There is no registration necessary. Just fill out a form like your PayPal email address and a few clicks here and there with the options and you will be given a generated URL. You can use that URL to place it within your blogger template.
Make sure enable widget is checked then look for the code
. Place your buy me link below that, then save. Now you have that buy me link after every post in your blog. Pretty simple and straightforward. The only downside to this though, is if Buckdrop’s site is down. But well, I bet that rarely happens.

How To Add AdSense In Blogger

Adding Google AdSense code into your Blogger account is fairly easy, although this wasn’t possible before when I was new to Blogger. The reason why I want to add Google AdSense code manually rather than using Blogger’s AdSense gadget is because of channels. Channels are pretty helpful is segregating page impressions of ads and this is not possible if you use Blogger’s built-in Adsense gadget. To manually add code (this is assuming you know how to generate AdSense code in your AdSense account), do the following …
1) Once in the blog of your choice, choose LAYOUT
2) Click ADD A GADGET
3) Choose HTML/JAVASCRIPT and click the + (plus) image
4) Paste your Google AdSense code
5) Click SAVE
That’s it! It took me quite a while till I thought about having to check if placing AdSense code in an HTML/Javascript gadget is now possible or still not. And now that it is, I’m very happy as I can keep track of my page impressions through channels.
