The Graphite Report

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of GRPH for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.
I have to admit. Even I do not find graphite quite attractive. When it comes to minerals, gold and silver come to mind right away. However, graphite is used in so many things.
Take batteries for example. Yes. The use of graphite in batteries has been increasing in the last 3 decades. The Li-ion battery utilizes more graphite than lithium carbonate.
Now, would you believe that graphite is used in most devices today? Hard to believe but true. The use of lithium ion battery has really taken off.
Graphite is one of the most important raw materials in modern electronics and industry. Despite that, The United States has not produced graphite in over 20 years. All of it is imported.
But things are going for the better. For the first time in more than 20 years, America is about to produce its own graphite. Not too soon, either and this is a good sign for America’s economy. It always is a good sign when you do not import from others.
Graphite Corporation aims to be at the center of the graphite attention. Having an American entity that produces graphite for the whole nation to use compared to importing graphite from other countries can benefit America immensely.
Considering that Graphite Corp. will become a major player in the American graphite industry, there is an opportunity to invest. Check out the Industry Growth Report Newsletter to find more details about it!

Easy Battery Saver For Android, Beware Users!
Posted by admin on
February 23, 2012
Well, I added a word after the post title because I was very disappointed with this app. It keeps turning on my cellular data even though I set it to off.
Because of this, I give this app a zero rating. I am worried how much data usage my account used up. Who knows if my phone’s app kept retrieving data while I was asleep. Sheesh. This is a big troublesome problem for me. I just hope the bill ain’t big.
Even though I chose the normal configuration of the app, it still turned on my cellular data. It is weird because the description says it won’t change any settings and all strategies applied to it based on other options of Easy Battery Saver will be cancelled. But they ain’t.
This app is good only for those who have an unlimited data plan since who cares how much data is consumed by the smart phone right?
In my case, I only depend on WIFI for Internet access hence this app really sucks. I decided to uninstall it rather than risk getting charged for who knows how much.

Why OLED Smartphones Backgrounds Are Black By Default
Posted by admin on
January 29, 2012
While reading an e-book about Windows Phone programming, I came across a paragraph that caught my attention. From Microsoft Press’ e-book titled Programming Windows Phone 7, it stated that:
>>>
OLEDs are different from flat displays of the past in that power consumption is proportional to the light emitted from the display. For example, an OLED display consumes less than half the power of an LCD display of the same size, but only when the screen is mostly black. For an all-white screen, an OLED consumes more than three times the power of an LCD.
Because battery life is extremely important on mobile devices, this characteristic of OLED displays implies an aesthetic of mostly black backgrounds with sparse graphics and light-stroked fonts. Regardless, Windows Phone 7 users can choose between two major color themes: light text on a dark background, or dark text on a light background.
>>>
This tidbit is very informative. This could be why the default background color of smart phones is black. What do you think?
