Samsung announced another Corby member - i5500 Corby Smartphone. Despite its small size, this mobile phone runs on Google’s Android operating system v2.1. The phone, also known as Galaxy 5, looks and feels much like the other Corbys around.

Still it is the mightiest one among them, running a smart OS and powered by a fast processor. The full specs sheet is quite impressive given the small size - 2.8-inch QVGA capacitive touchscreen, a 600MHz processor, accelerometer sensor, 2 megapixel snapper and 100 MB user storage expandable via microSD card slot.

Connectivity department offers 3G with HSDPA, Wi-Fi with DLNA, GPS with A-GPS, Bluetooth, microUSB port and 3.5mm audio jack.

There has been no confirmation yet regarding the ROM and RAM, probably not more than 256MB for the both of them.

Finally, Samsung powered the Corby Smartphone with a 1200 mAh battery, which should give you lots of hours. Now, since there has been news about an iPad version for the Galaxy 5, known as the Galaxy 5 Tab and since it got renamed to Corby, could it be named Corby Tab?

If you had known about the Nexus One, then you know that it runs on Google’s Android operating system and was one of the early mobile phones that pioneered the use of it. The HTC Desire is a slick mobile phone with cooler features than its cousin. It still uses Android and includes a speedy 1GHz Snapdragon, large AMOLED screen, the company’s latest revision of its enhanced Sense UI and goody!, no more trackball!

One nice thing to comment about its Sense UI is that it has this so called feature called Leap View. Basically, pinch the screen in using multi-touch (what do you know, it is supported too) and you will be able to see all seven screens at once. Quite handy if you are over on the far right screen and you want to check the weather on the far left (pinch and prod and you are there, pretty convenient if I say so myself).

The phone is very slim, with dimensions of 119 x 60 x 11.9 mm, and weighs in at just 133g. The power button also functions as the lock key and is very nicely placed to press whenever necessary. The USB slot is hidden at the bottom - no cover to keep the dust out and on the plus side it is of microUSB type, banishing the memory of the horrid miniUSB port from HTC designs of old.

The Desire is yet another fine piece of work from HTC. The product quality is top notch and the new and existing features are nothing to complain about except maybe a little bit in the Flash performance but is that really important? 😉 While people may see that these features already exist in older kinds of models, it is always the efficiency and functionalities that makes it better than its predecessors.

Here are two mobile phones that focus on a different niche: social networking. Kin One (photo 1) and Kin Two (photo 2) are a duo of multimedia phones with a strong focus on social networking. Both of them use a customized Windows Phone 7 interface where online social interaction is central. So if you are a Facebook addict, then hands down, this phone is just the right one for you. Or is it not?

From GSMArena: The new Kin phones are set to provide a “deeply social” experience on the same platform that will bring us the first Windows Phone 7 phones. In contrast to Windows Phone 7 phones, the whole user experience will be entirely personal revolving around social networking on the go. The homescreen of the KIN phones (called the Loop) is a never-ending story of the lives of your friends. Or as the UI design team puts it “the metaphor for KIN phones is a magazine”.

There is one disappointing thing with these phones: they lack a memory card slot and that is a pretty big limitation in my point of view. To counter this limitation, the phones make use of Kin Studio - an online sync service that backups (and even shares) your phone’s photos and videos, messages, call history, etc. But, it still sucks because you are forced to have to use their online service just to do sharing even though its focus is on the social networking side, there should have been a memory card slot placed into these phones.

What do you think?
