Let The Bribes Begin!
Well, our house is more than halfway to the finish point and in order to get an occupancy permit, we would have to do what most, if not all people do: bribe staff of local government agencies to lower charges.
Case in point. We had an assessor assess our house and what they do is they bloat and give you an overpriced figure so you will have to keep on asking them to lower it down until bribes come into play.
We ended up with a figure that I estimated to be at the right price. It ain’t small but at least it was not overpriced at more than 5 times the first amount that was offered to us.
Then there is the fire department. For a simple house, they require us to put in 5 extinguishers and smoke detectors in every room. What the … It ain’t a building!!! It is just a house!
And since they give you all this mumbo jumbo crap which the majority cannot relate to, the house owners end up giving them something just to avoid whatever junk they require your house to have.
The fire extinguisher I can understand. 1, yes. But 5?!? Seriously?!? They do this so they can earn themselves since they have their own supplier and you “have” to buy the fire extinguisher from them.
Sigh … And to think we had to get a loan from Pag-Ibig because we do not have the cash to have it built. Then they go off requiring loaners an occupancy permit in order to get the last check. People loan because they need money and then these government agencies milk them out of it.
Ironic …
