Audio Transcription

Last night, we finally had our first taste of what audio transcribing felt like. We were very excited prior to that because it meant we have a sideline job that we could use the money for our expenses. Call it, added bonus. I was the first to dabble with transcribing since my wife was downstairs helping out her brothers. Once I started working on it, I gave up after a few seconds. I could not understand much what people were saying. Worse, the software I used was Express Scribe which also has a Mac OS version and sadly, makes it hard to do transcribing because the shortcut keys that is available in Windows (like f7, f8, etc) is useless in Mac since they are already assigned for other purposes.

Well, maybe assigning them to mimic the same results as the Windows version but no thanks. I wanted my shortcut keys as they were. I thought, even if I were to use a pedal hardware for transcribing, I figured it still would not make things easier for me. The audio was an interview and I was ticked off a few seconds after I started listening to it because some words could never be understood. So I told my wife later on if she was still interested to do it instead because I was done. I told her she won’t get any help from me because I don’t want to. After 3 hours, she only got to finish 15 minutes worth of the audio of out an hour. We both gave up. I figured, it was not worth the amount and the time it will take to finish transcribing everything. I am better off doing paid blogging instead since my situation is pretty good.

Well, at least I did try out audio transcription to see if I got the hang of it. Sadly, I did not.

Like what you see? Buy me a cup of coffee. I love cappuccinos.
