Treasures Of Montezuma For iTouch

montezumaFirst things first. Before I go on describing what this game is all about, I want to give you one good advice. Read the HELP section first to understand how the game is played and what its tools (e.g. totems) can be used for. I just finished the Treasures of Montezuma for iTouch game last night. Its game play is similar to that with Bejeweled but with a twist similar to that of Jewel Quest. You move gems vertically or horizontally and try to match 3 or more. The Jewel Quest twist here is that those games with a tiny gem inside them should be included in the match because for every level you are given a number of those kind of gems to be matched. There is a timer running so you would have to finish it before time runs out or else you would have to restart the level and try your luck again.

Of course, as the game goes on and the more levels you get to play, your minimum number of these gems to match increases. Now how will you montezumaget to finish them in time right? Here is where its twist comes in. Treasures of Montezuma includes a neat feature wherein for every level (whether ordinary or special bonus level) you finish, you get to get a big gold star which you can use to upgrade a list of helpful tools to aid you in your game. Tools like totems that can increase time, blast other gems here and there, randomly paint gems into a different color and so forth. Just check the HELP section to know more details about it including how to activate a totem’s function. I thought the totems would just randomly activate on its own in a specific set of time only to find out when I was almost near the end of the game (after reading the HELP section) that the totems can be activated if you match a set of gems at least twice. I always made sure I activated the orange totem as it gives you an additional minute to your time, thereby giving you more time to finish the level. If you get to match a different color, then the totem of that color will be ready for activation if you do a match of the same color again.

Overall this is a pretty neat game. The graphics is good I pretty much enjoyed playing this game. Also, I did find a little bug (not that I would call it a bug). If say, time is over and you did not finish the level, if you are not far off from finishing it, you can quit the game and run it again. You will find out that it goes back to the last level that you played and you can try to finish the game again. This can be tiring though but if you have the patience, go for it! Otherwise, just restart the level.

Avatar The Last Airbender For PSP

avatarThis neat game of the hit tv-series Avatar The Last Airbender for the PSP features RPG type play with the usual goals of defeating enemies and gaining experience and using them to upgrade a character’s fighting skills and techniques. The game features sequences where you manage a 4 team group, duo or single depending on the situation of the game. Fans of Avatar would surely love this as characters and the storyline hold true to the series.

You get to handle each character from Earth, Water and Air as you battle forest beasts, renegades and fire nation soldiers. If you do not have the patience to play RPG games though, you will not enjoy this one because you would have to fight through enemy lines to gain experience in order to upgrade your skills and techniques up to their maximum levels. Each character has their own special super power that can deal great damage to the enemies. As you move about in villages and temples, you can purchase additional stuffs to help you in your battles. Your money will come from boxes you destroy or enemies that you defeat. Once you take control of a character to fight the enemy, your other character is CPU controlled and does a good job of avoiding hits so you only need to concentrate on the character that you are controlling.

Individual enemies can be easily dealt with. The problem is when there are lots of them ganging up on you can greatly result in your defeat. As much as possible try to sneak up on them one by one rather than going to the middle and having them gang up on you. The game’s graphics is very neat and fans of the hit series will love that they can use their characters to do bending techniques (I did).

Justice League Heroes For PSP

superman1Justice League Heroes for the PSP is one of my favorite games. It was actually the first role playing adventure game that I finished. You play either of the Justice League’s superheroes Superman, Batman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern, Flash, Wonder Woman, The Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, Huntress, Aquaman. The game features easy medium and hard modes. Not all characters can be played right away. You start off with a few, and as you go deeper with each level, new characters will be unlocked. By blasting enemies you also get to earn experience which you can use to boost up speed, power and/or energy. Superman is funny here though since the flying characters have a height limit in which they can hover around. Still, the overall game is good and I enjoyed it pretty much (at easy mode haha).

You start up your adventure ending up at STARR labs and finding out about Braniac only to find out later on that there is much more to Braniac. You will encounter famous enemy baddies the Queen Bee, The Key, Killer Frost, Gorilla Grodd, the White Martians and Doomsday. This is typically a 1 player game. Even if the level requires you to choose 2 characters, you will have total control on only one of them at a time. The 3D animation is good, I enjoyed the short flicks in between levels. I did not regret having this game.
