Here’s What Happened in Singapore

I know I promised to tell you what happened in my last Singapore trip.. That was a long time ago.. But better late than never, right? So here goes…

I love Singapore. It’s the only other country I’ve stepped foot on (aside from Pinas of course). So everytime I have the chance to go there, I always see to it that I make the most out of that rare opportunity. My first two visits were purely personal. The first being an act of love (beware, mushy stuff ahead). It was a trip that had to happen. A week before my departure, I had no passport and no ticket (no money for the ticket too..LOL). In what seemed like a miracle, I processed my passport without hang-ups and unexpectedly got extra money. So there I was, on my first international trip.

The second trip wa again an act of love…to see a special person who already works there. Come Christmas Day and New Year’s eve, we had to argue on something. Yes, I like drama and I really chose those days to argue about sensitive things. Well, I did not really choose to. It sort of happened. So after that second trip, I swore I’ll never go back to Singapore, unless it was about work.

God perhaps wanted me to visit the Lion City again. So the third time, it was December once again, I boarded Silk Air,which for the first time in my life, landed me on Changi Airport Terminal 2 and not in the Budget Terminal!

After doing my official work, I had at least five days to spend with my friends and that special person there. Then it happened. I discovered something that broke my heart. Good thing that we both decided to enjoy my stay there and settle things once I’m back in Cebu. And I did.

Despite what happened, I managed to enjoy Singapore. I rode the Singapore Flyer and I have finally seen Songs of the Sea ( a show that I so wanted to see but was not able to do so the first two trips because tickets are already sold out). I did some shopping and I ahve tried the Chilli Crab - people said Singapore is known for this. The best part is, in every Nike store I go to, I find a large portrait of Nadal! This is uncommon here in Cebu.

Looking back, I guess that trip closed a lot of things. I’m not anymore in contact with that special person in Singapore. I have done everything I wanted to do and have seen all I want to see in Singapore (except in buying that Nike blouse).

Maybe, God said NO this time. No more Singapore. No more heartaches.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved my time there. I love the country still. But if I were to go there and have my heart broken again, I guess I’ll just let go of the opportunity. It’s not time for me to go back to Singapore…not YET. But if I can’t resist the temptation of that beautiful country, I have to make sure that this time, I’m going there for the RIGHT reasons…and not just some fleeting moments of happiness.
